Mandy Moore, you sneaky minx. During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the 34-year-old actress revealed she knows how her hit show This Is Us will end. She also may have let a major spoiler slip, confirming a fan theory about her character Rebecca's fate. Uh oh! If you're a big fan of This Is Us, I recommend reading ahead at your own risk.
Despite only heading into it's third season, This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman has the ending of the series mapped out. "I think the ending will be very satisfying for people," Mandy said. "I think it's very true to what the show evokes from all of us. People will feel their feelings."
Mandy even confirmed the rumor that scenes from the finale have actually already been filmed. “He knows where the story is heading,” she said. “I think just the nature of our show and the trajectory is that, you know, people are certain ages now, and perhaps they’re just gonna keep getting older. So you’re capturing content in the can now.” She's probably referring to the actors who play the Pearson kids at their various ages here.
She may have even confirmed the long held conspiracy theory that Rebecca will die at some point during the show's run. "I don't know if I was in any of that footage," she told the host. Rebecca is an older woman with adult children in the present day story line on This Is Us and many fans believe that the show will explore Rebecca's death just as they did with Milo Ventimiglia's Jack.
Even though she (possibly) wasn't in the scenes that were shot for the finale, she does know what happens in those scenes. Just the fact that the series creator knows where the story is going, though, "makes me feel good as an actor and as a viewer."
